Tokyo is a fantastic city.  Crowded and fast-paced, it is ironically one of the most civilised places on Earth.  Tokyo people have long ago learned that good manners are the lubricant that allows people to survive in close quarters with each other.

Looking out the window of the Keio Plaza hotel, the city seems to go on forever into the distance.  The scale of this high density city is mind boggling. The danger of frequent earth quakes places limits on the height of the dwellings.  The population density has to therefore be achieved by closely packed buildings, unlike Hong Kong which can burgeon upwards in high rise apartments.
